There is a critical need in the community to provide immediate care and resources for orphaned unweaned kittens aged 0-4 weeks old. During the spring and summer months hundreds of kittens are born to community cats in Chelan and Douglas Counties. Sometimes these tiny lives depend on our help for survival.

The Save A Tiny Life campaign aims to provide essential support to unweaned kittens in need of care, promote kitten welfare, and reduce kitten mortality rates. The goal is to recruit fosters, raise funds to provide nursing kits and raise awareness around community cats during kitten season and beyond.

For the first time, the Save a Tiny Life Campaign is part of a direct mail appeal with a $10,000 match thanks to Aut-to-Mocha, Cashmere Valley Bank and two generous community couples. The mailer will go out to households in Chelan and Douglas Counties to raise crucial funds and awareness.

This kitten shower-inspired gathering aims to raise awareness, recruit new fosters, and collect vital supplies to help us care for the influx of newborn kittens arriving this season. Every year, our humane society responds to numerous calls about orphaned kittens, and we rely on compassionate fosters to provide them with the love and care they need to thrive.

Kitten Nursing Kits

WVHS is distributing kitten nursing kits for free through local participating pet stores and veterinary clinics to support individuals and families caring for unweaned kittens. Each kit includes essential supplies for caring for unweaned kittens, such as formula, feeding bottles, nursing nipples, and feeding instructions. The kits are designed to provide the necessary support for individuals fostering or caring for unweaned kittens, ensuring their proper nutrition and care.

Presently, kitten nursing kits are available for free at Earthwise Pet Supply and Grooming in Wenatchee, Firehouse Pet Shop and PetCo in the Wenatchee Valley area. Partnering with these establishments allows for convenient access to the kits and increases outreach to individuals who may encounter unweaned kittens in need of care. Kits are also available at the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society during open hours.

By implementing the Save A Tiny Life campaign, Wenatchee Valley Humane Society aims to empower individuals and families to provide quality care for unweaned kittens. This proactive approach can significantly increase the chances of survival for these fragile animals.
